Tipton Prairie Academy Dance Recital










On May 31st, the Prairie Academy of Performing Arts from Tipton Kansas presented a recital at the Lucas Area Community Theater at 2 pm. Debra Houghton is the dance instructor and teaches ballet, tap, and jazz at her studio in Tipton. The Tipton Catholic High School “Wildcard” dance group performed a couple of jazz routines. Pictured from the left, Alyssa Lowe, Reagan Stewart, Courtney Baetz, Destiny Lowe, Grace Grady , and Kolbie Hennes performed Dance of the Reed Pipes.









Mrs. Houghton had a great group of dancers performing from the Nutcracker Suite Ballet and the Sleeping Beauty Ballet, along with tap dances to the Grand Old Flag, Singin’ in the Rain, and a tap music mix. Her Jr high jazz class did a great job on two performances including Fabulous from the High School Musical. At the end of the recital Debra Houghton called all the girls on stage for a group photo and handed out certificates to each girl from her Prairie Academy of Performing Arts. During the Prairie Academy Dance Recital on May 31st, Amanda Henke of Tipton presented the piano solo, “Sonatine for Peace”. She performed the solo on the Lucas Theater’s new piano, which was purchased last year with special donations from the Lucas community. Amanda Henke also presented a vocal solo, “The Song That Nature Sings” with accompaniment by Mrs. Lara Ketter.
